TURQUOISE MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION

Rory Stewart, the well known author, has established the Turquoise Mountain Foundation, and the Centre for Traditional Afghan Arts and Architecture.  Traditional skills of woodworking, illustration and ceramics are taught by master teachers to younger apprentices, developing handicrafts and new Afghan designs.  The newly-acquired skills are being put to work in a major redevelopment project in the historic bazaar of old Kabul.
